    It's their best since Shogun and I can't justify putting it any higher on my list. Says more about the depth and quality of stuff this year though.

    First wave was Deadguy, Earth Crisis, Integrity etc. And they're all better than Trivium ever will be.

    Idk i think there's a difference between metallic hardcore like those bands and the watered down melo death that became metalcore like trivium and that shit. Not sure one necessarily led to the other

    There's definitely a difference, for sure. But I think its just an evolution of the genre. Bands like Earth Crisis definitely have their roots in hardcore, but they're still credited as inovaters of merging hardcore and metal styles. Especially in a time where hardcore kids hated metal, and vice versa.
