I had a thread like this on the old forum.

For me, I still consider The Downward Spiral to be the best album that Nine Inch Nails ever made. It is one of my all-time favorite albums and I can never can tired of it.

Here's a list for me, and I will edit this post and add more as I think of them.

Nine Inch Nails - The Downward Spiral
Lamb of God - Ashes of the Wake
Slipknot - S/T
Dimmu Borgir - Enthrone Darkness Triumphant
Machine Head - The Blackening
Tool - Lateralus
Dimmu Borgir - Puritanical Euphoric Misanthropia
Dimmu Borgir - Death Cult Armageddon
Hurt - Goodbye to the Machine

How about you guys?

The term masterpiece gets thrown around wayyyyyy too loosely.

I have to think about this.

I halfway agree, but also do not.

The thread is about albums that you consider a masterpiece, not albums that are a masterpiece.
I can't think of any off the top of my head though

I'm not saying that some albums aren't masterpieces, I'm saying that a lot of people don't really grasp the idea of what a masterpiece is and throw it around like candy. A 10/10 album doesn't always equal a masterpiece....

My two cents. I'll just some time to think about it...

Nine Inch Nails - The Downward Spiral/The Fragile

    Marilyn Manson - Antichrist Superstar

As I Lay Dying - Shadows Are Security

    Mastodon - Leviathan

    Triptykon - Eparistera Diamones

Atreyu - Lead Sails Paper Anchor (I'm dead serious)

Alice In Chains - Dirt/Black Gives Way To Blue

System of a Down - S/T (in its own way)

There's probably a couple more that I can't think of right now (without whoring Manson or The Haunted.)
    I love winning with women

Yes, but that is what I am saying. If you really like an album, then you are going to say it is a masterpiece regardless what other people say. I'm sure there are a million scenie kids saying TDWP have released a masterpiece. I think they are wrong, but in their own sense they are right. I could care less. So for the the people who think Atreyu has released a masterpiece, more power to them.

Edit: Here's another way I see it. If someone says "this is the masterpiece of gay porn." I would be like, hell no, I stay away from that. But there could be a masterpiece out there, Ed just hasn't directed it yet.
